At least I got one thing accomplished so far this week, got the yard mowed….

This heat and humidity is a terrible combination now. Feels like Ike 95F right now

@Beatbox34 oh maybe mid-September it’ll get better.

@cherokeepatti It super humid here too. It's about to start raining and I have no electricity tonight.

No fans, no lights and nothing. Tried calling a guy to get it rectified but it was 1AM when I called them and they didn't wanna come at that time.

We all have our moments I guess.

I'm just waiting for September to arrive as well. Autumn and winter are my favorite seasons.

@Beatbox34 no electricity it’s gonna be miserable. We went on vacation to California 3 years ago, was driving to Yosemite and stopped in a high desert town called Bishop. Brought our food & watermelon & Drinks to a little park and ate lunch at a picnic table under a shade tree. It was so pleasant with a light breeze, felt like maybe 78 F., I never broke a sweat the entire time and when we got back to the car the thermometer said 100F. …. I couldn’t believe that having almost no humidity could make 100F. Feel good even in the shade. Here when it’s in the high 70’s if it’s really humid I am miserable.
At least try to get some ice and make some cold drinks.

@cherokeepatti Thank you. We somehow slept in the night.

I've had a similar experience which is why I wish I could leave the city lol. It's much hotter there and when the population is less dense, it gets much cooler.

@Beatbox34 oh yes it is much hotter in cities, more heat from the parking lots streets and buildings. I was born on a farm & we had no a/c only a single box fan. It would get hot in the daytime but probably not as hot as the cities. And we had a spring-fed creek to cool down in during the daytime if we felt really hot. It’s nice to sit by a lake with a gentle breeze over the water in the evening, feels really cool. When we moved to town I would wet a hand towel and freeze it up and wipe myself down to cool down.

@cherokeepatti I was born in the city and have probably lived my life in the city. However, areas like those which are naturally cooler will always be my go to place. I used to have a small bed outside the house which was naturally cool all around the year due to the fact that there was a lot of greenery near me.

@Beatbox34 My aunt was born in 1913 and she told me that they would drag their beds out onto the porch and sleep outside at night during the hot summers. And they would soak sheets in water and hang up to help feel cooler. So many mosquitoes here that a person would need mosquito netting on a bed.

@cherokeepatti Interesting. My mom knew a couple of home remedies to ward off mosquitos but usually the farms were a bit away.

It's so interesting how we've come so far yet gone back in terms of progress. It seems like we've progressed but in reality it's made things worse.

@Beatbox34 I know.
