It's been said that some users here have obvious mental and/or emotional problems, and we coddle and enable them. Any truth to that?

Well it's a double edged sword.馃槑If you call them out some will say you're insensitive and uncaring and blah blah blah...SO damned if you do and damned if ya don't!馃

@Peaches I can see this point. Very difficult to do caring confrontations online, especially in an open crowd of usernames.
PeachesF
@uncleshawn Yeah, but I've done it in person before. Because some will use their mental illness for an excuse, they'll manipulate situations if you don't call them out.馃槒
OogieBoogieF
@Peaches man!...I have to agree . There's no honest way out of this .
You sympathise, you enable , you offer solutions , they evade.
You call it as it is...you're a callous troll, and you get abused by the person who was saying how fragile they are.

When fragility makes you implode, not explode .

Best option ...avoid.
PeachesF
@OogieBoogie I DO avoid situations like that now.馃槈I tried to help this one girl on a different website, she was always upset as to WHY her family was so against her? I would see her and jump, because nothing I said made any difference and she'd start all over. THEN that website ended and she came here with a totally different profile...saying she was a lesbian.馃檮She had never mentioned that before. Maybe that was why her family was upset? Who knows, I just ignored her after that. I felt she used me just to rant about her family.馃憥

@Peaches uhgnnnnn!

I get when situations are complex, and one has to work on some things before others
...but I get you .

I've tried to offer help or options to others, and its a never ending Ferris
Wheel....always a reason why they can't do 'a'...or 'b'...or anything.

And I been there, that deep sense of hopelessness takes over .

But when its a year or two later, and they are still in exactly the same position, dealing with the same issues....yeah you learn to go, " not touching THAT one ".

I've truly come to believe that some , in some way, need drama, or issues or to be a victim.

I mean , it's even scarier getting out , solving some of your problems,,and then having to try to be a competent, self supporting citizen.
Its quite scary attempting to finally be normal-ish.
PeachesF
@OogieBoogie It's not scary to me anymore, I refuse to walk on eggshells just to please someone's hang ups! 馃槒 Find someone else to suck the life out of!馃憥
OogieBoogieF
@Peaches I'm sorry you feel that way.
PeachesF
@OogieBoogie Don't be...because it doesn't mean I don't care.馃槒It just means I can read between the lines and won't be used. I know when someone is genuine or just playing me, that's all I meant.
OogieBoogieF
@Peaches and I was being genuine...I didn't mean to suck the life out of you , I was trying (apparently badly) to be supportive of your views.
PeachesF
@OogieBoogie Thanks, it's hard sometimes to understand what someone is trying to get across on line sometimes.馃馃拹

@Peaches true.
