I prefer the newer ones. The makers keep improving them. The locking stop was a great improvement just as the wide tape with red letters at stud distancing. Large yardage indicators. A magnet embedded into the end hook for steel measurements. Better belt clips. All good innovations. I have several and each is for a particular work.

@Thexboxoneguy1991 I have one of my many that is white. Very inexpensive. Best for it's purpose. And nobody made it except Walmart's Tool Shop brand. I searched everywhere for it and was surprised when it
came so easily to me. I think it was about 5 dollars.
It is a 10 footer. Both metric and SAE markings. I use indoors in machinery areas. The metric is a must in manufacturing facilities, and the white helps with lower illumination characteristic with inside larger machines.
It's light weight and I never need to use more than a few feet of it inside a conveyor unit or on a pallet fixture.
