How stupid is it that a product that doesn't get made anymore sells at a correspondingly higher price

as a collectible? It's outdated, that's why the maker decided to introduce newer, better versions of it! Why the hell would you pay 3-4x the newer version for the oldest version just because it's not going to be made anymore?! And people actually buy that stuff on eBay, etc.!
