I really need a therapist.

I can't handle life. I'm just scared to go because what if it turns out to be useless too? I've been su.icidal before and I know if it doesn't work out I'm going to be sui.cidal again.

I would take the choice of therapist very serious. Many do not personally commit themselves to your recovery. I would choose someone that is personally committed to you and your well being and can direct you into practical changes in your life that stabilize your emotional well being.
@Pfuzylogic Hey Pfuzy, if u wanna really get hurt go look 4 a therapist and say u have the poor-peoples insurance and even if they SAID they accept it chances are they will then talk to U like you are dirt. Or worse let you in and then TREAT u like dirt.

I speak from what I have seen heard AND experienced. For 4 decades now.

The system is devolving and no better way to discover that is to have a problem and need someone to care about u.

If u are rich you might have a few choices. Its just another business and they are meeeting their own bottom line which is not the patients.

And every one working there will lie all day to justify themselves while they leave u in the dust

ONLY therapy these days is a meaningful circle of friends.

I am not sure why you chose me for this response. I didn’t create this Post. Is this what you wanted to share with her?

True, a support system of friends is important but they are not professionals. Selecting the right professional is what this Post is about. Suicidal ideation is a very serious matter that needs to be addressed immediately.

I am suggesting to not immediately accept the first therapist but go through the services they offer.
Their belief structure can be of very important consequence and so not every therapist will be right for every person.
@Pfuzylogic you said many patients don't take their progress seriously

blaming the victim?

sounded like it and it set me OFF.

There isn't much choice and its a ghastly problem that maybe YOU wouldn't know about.

but puhleeeze don't jump to conclusions about this stuff. Your sentiments I see everywhere and they are always offensive. And damning of the system AND the people who CHOOSE to endorse it just like it is...!!

You might read that again.
I stated that not all therapists do not commit themselves to recovery.
I thought you were upset for some reason.
I would not victim blame on a post where someone is opening up about someone feeling suicidal.

The right therapist is critical.
@Pfuzylogic There is no effing bloody choice.

Unless you think I would lie just to entertain people.

Maybe in WA or Vermont the healthcare is more humane but in OK PA and NY there is no care at all. It is monetized and set up to rob Medicaid whenever possible and the pseudo "care" reflects this too

Positive thinking concepts can be found for free everywhere and that is what passes for therapy these days.

Problem is people can have their soul ripped out of them to set them up to be USED for the organized psycho racket and still end up with nothing but an unfinished coloring book and the hollow "positive thinking" overpaid hacks in their head...unto all eternity. And maybe no JOB or apartment anymore.

Spare me please

the system needs a revolution from bottom up. Should be clear to you of all people. You have the brains to figure it out.

I don’t really know you at all.
