In an increasingly turbulent world, my home country, with its stable structures, its economic strength and a high understanding of values, is in great demand. As advocates of Europe and mediators in international conflicts, we should act more decisively. We are also known for our automotive and engineering industries. Culturally, one thinks more of the past with Bach, Beethoven and Goethe. My home country is becoming increasingly popular as a travel destination.

@Camelia I expected such a sweeping round through older and more recent German history, filled with nothing but reproaches. You may be right in many things, but every country in this world has its dark past and did wrong and still do wrong to other peoples or its own people, no country is immune of that. Wherever people rule, mistakes are made and atrocities and suffering are caused, unfortunately nothing will ever change that. But in contrast to other countries, we Germans stand by our past and take responsibility for the crimes that Nazis did to other people.
If your ancestors were wronged by Germans then I am sorry but it is not my fault and not the fault of my generation or the one of my parents.
