My dad: doesn't let his own children help him walk when he clearly needs it

Also my dad: let's a random assistant at the hospital support his posture as he walks... What??? I don't get it. What is this supposed to mean?

Common situation. Dad doesn't want to look weak in front of his kids. He's always been strong and he's got his pride. The random hospital assistant...there's no history there, nothing to prove and no image to uphold. Just human nature.
