do you eat breakfast before the sun rises then eat supper after the sun set??? 🍪

@trackboy The fast is from the time of dawn until the time of sunset.
it's not just leaving out food and drink, it's also leaving out 'nookie-nookie'.
It's a sort of intentional protest to overpower the hold of the carnal self.

Based on my experience, on trips to the GCC, Qatar, etc, it does not seem about holding off the "carnal self". People sleep during the day, and indulge the carnal self during the night, and that includes lavish Iftars, extended shopping hours (beyond midnight), sales on consumer goods, clothes, etc., luxurious Iftar "tents", where the best food and sweets are brought out, TV specials, etc.

@Northwest interesting so not just getting up before dawn eating then going back to bed until its time to get up to do stuff during the day, but a total reversal of the day where your up at night and sleep during the day. 😺

@Northwest Being lavish about everything after a day of fasting kinda defeats the purpose. The final purpose of it remains the same; fasting is more holistic in the sense that we minimalize our wordly desires and repairing ourselves to be modest and humble. Simultaneously we're empathizing with those lives with little to no luxuries so our outlook on everything and everyone is calibrated. 😊

@Northwest Yeah I hear you. Like so many other religious adherence, many people miss the entire point of the practice. It seems like corporate greed has it's way of infiltrating and robbing such practices/beliefs of their orthodox objectives. It's like Christmas... the origin of the red-n-white Santa suit and the overly economic burdens it places on the masses... 🤷‍♂️
