@TexChik They are interviewing guards on the news and the guards are saying that they are understaffed. Sometimes 6 guards for 13 floors. That’s ridiculous, they need one guard on every floor, it’s a huge jail.

@cherokeepatti which jail is that? Texas has a commission which oversees county jails. The standard is one guard for every 48 inmates and one face to face check an hour. Every 30 minutes for lockdown and mental health issues inmates.

@cherokeepatti I’m not sure about Oklahoma’s jail standards. Close to where I live is the 3rd largest county jail system in the country. Around 11,000 inmates.

@JesseInTX I don’t know what’s going on with them. They contracted out the care of the jail last summer due to the way it was being managed and it’s not any better. I think the budget is way too low for one thing. And they need to separate the violent offenders and put them off in another building away from this jail. Kind of like a super max jail. One of the correctional officers spoke out on Dr. Phil because of the suicides going on there.
