Can you just pick up any book (novel) and read it right thru ? Or do you have to “select” the books you read?

I keep finding unread novels in my house but they aren’t mine and i could read them but i’m not sure i want to.

I have to be interested in the subject. Then by about 20 pages in I know if i will finish it or not. Even if it’s a bestseller like The Road for example. After the first 15 pages or so,I knew i will never pick it up again

@DoubleRings I didn’t like the writing

@SW-User The dialog between father son was a bit annoying but there was no unnecessary overwritten descriptions of anything. everything was to the point. i skip skip skip when authors include too many details about things that aren’t plot changing.
