@bookerdana it's from a manuscript that contains a 13th century copy of some canon law decrees, with explanations.


The text in the middle is the original decrees, with the glosses around the edges.

I've no idea what the text is about at this point though. I probably [i]could[/i] work it out eventually but it would take ages - it's in Latin which wouldn't be too hard, but in 'Gothic' script, which is very hard to read if you're not used to it!

@bookerdana it's a woman (she's nursing a baby too!), but not sure if it's the scribe just really letting himself go, or it (somehow) illustrates a point in the text

@bookerdana I think it's a blackbird (yellow beak?). And there's a monkey with a giant cotton wool bud at the top of the page!
