Lost love or absent lover, which one is the worst?

Both hurt but I think an absent lover is much harder on the heart. I'm kind of in that situation now.

Lost if it implies death. I am okay if they are absent but living their lives the best they can.

One promises a return, one a new beginning... But both are filled with promise ...
