stuck tongue to metal - I had always learned that milk is what you were supposed to use to unstick it.

So, out of curiosity, I decided to check online. I see nowhere where it says that using milk is the solution. Has anyone else heard in their childhood or as they were growing up, that to unstick a tongue on cold metal, pouring milk on it was the solution?
