How does it make you feel when you hear about people that you don't know dying in a plane crash or something like that?

BlueVeins · 22-25
I don't really feel anything, though hearing fans talk about Kobe's death and how they looked up to him was one hell of a ride.
Redstar · 36-40, M
@BlueVeins I don't feel anything either, although I can recognize it as something that isn't good and understand why the people who knew those who died would be sad.
I imagine what their last moments must’ve been like and find it terrifying.
JupiterDreams · 31-35
Sad. They had family and friends... 🙁 Someone in the world will miss them terribly, and what time they still had left
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Wonder what they were doing traveling
Doomflower · 36-40, M
It depends on how it is presented. If it is just faceless numbers that is one thing but 9/11 for example made my guts go cold empathizing with the people so terrified they looked like they were jumping as far away from the building as they could in an attempt to escape.
arkod · 36-40, M
I've been desensitized to such news.
Unless depressed of affected strongly by some event in my life, maybe sad.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
I have more empathy than one should have. It usually breaks my heart.
Redstar · 36-40, M
@Handfull1 I think I have less empathy than one should have. I don't feel anything in those situations, although I can recognize it as something bad and understand why people who knew them are sad.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@Redstar I’m not sure if that’s something one can acquire. Maybe just what one’s born with. Would be an interesting study!
I think of the airlines and what did they did to cause it.
Redstar · 36-40, M
@MarmeeMarch Accidents happens, it's not always somebodies fault. Although it does deserve an investigation, in case it is.
@Redstar True - but they have the black boxes in there to help -
Jeffrey53 · 51-55, M
I feel awful to family members who lost love ones.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
I may not know them, but those are friends, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, sisters, and brothers, etc. to someone. It's not great news.
Redstar · 36-40, M
@uncalled4 I agree that it's not great news but does it make you upset at all? I mean, do you think you care beyond recognizing it as something that is upsetting for people who knew them?
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 26-30, F
I think immediately of the ones I care about & how that would impact myself & their loved ones. Then I think of how real those people are to their loved ones & the suffering that is to come from the loss.
Redstar · 36-40, M
@Mrsbetweenfatandfit Does it make you feel really sad when you think about the latter?
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 26-30, F
@Redstar yeah I don’t like it at all
Redstar · 36-40, M
@Mrsbetweenfatandfit Fair enough.
