@LadyJ me too. One time we got to go on a sleigh ride around the farm, a neighbor brought his horses and sleigh up our driveway to the house. It was night time when we climbed into the sleigh and went on a ride. The snow we got was so deep that the snow plow driver got the snow plow stuck by the end of the driveway. I don’t know if the neighbor did it for a gift to us or came by to check on us to make sure we were OK and had everything that we needed. With it being at night thinking he might have gone to town or something. It was a nice surprise and a wonderful gift to us children.

@LadyJ The snow came in on Christmas Eve. Back then public schools still had classes on Christmas Eve. My sister was in first grade and the school buses were getting stuck coming to the school building so the school called all the parents and told them they’d have to get alternative transportation. We had a couple in town that were good friends and the man walked through the snow to get my sister and carried her back to their home. Then he waded to the downtown part a few blocks away and bought her gifts since she had none at their house. She was there for almost a week before the roads got cleared off.

@LadyJ we used to get some heavy snows in central Oklahoma that lasted a while but it’s been 12 years since we had a blizzard and it was on Christmas Eve. They warned people several days before to get their shopping done, stock up on food & water, and plan on staying home but a lot of people waited till they got paid to shop. One man got stuck in his truck by the highway and the snow blew & piled up to the top. Nobody checked the truck for awhile and then they found him frozen to death
