My prayers go out to everyone who lost someone or is sick or is recovered and still having symptoms. One of my in laws is recovering but with lingering symptoms. This Thanksgiving is different. There is family I can't see just like many others.

It's true that most people who get sick have "mild" cases of it. What they don't describe is what "mild" means. Mild is basically staying out of the hospital from what I've been told. I'm not a dr so I won't tell anyone how to care for themselves.

I can't get sick. I have to stay away from people. I'd like to go out and do all the things that we used to do. For now my husband and I will mostly live like hermits.

We have some family members who think we are being ridiculous because we can't be around other people. They won't wear masks and think I overreact. I'm saddened by this.

@SW-User i also have family members who refuse to wear masks and aren't taking covid seriously..these are the same family members i refuse to see and i've turned down any invitation to see them over the christmas period...i refuse to put myself and my immediate family at risk because of a few stupid people..we all need to stay safe untill this is all over 🙏🙏🤗

1. Friend of mine who tested IgG+, still in isolation and awaiting to get a swab.
2. Aunt in Milan, who got it bad and needed oxygen supplementation from a barrel - never go officially a swab, but tested IgG+ later
3. Uncle in my town I met with circa one week before he developed symptoms, completely asymptomatic, but PCR-confirmed
4. Girlfriend of said uncle, paucisymptomatic (flu-like-illness), PCR-confirmed
5. Colleagues who came to work with symptoms to prove their dedication to working, never officially tested but they coughed for one month whole

I know several.

My friend died earlier today from it. Another friend of my wife's lost her dad to it earlier in the week.

My niece had it bad. If she wasn’t a healthy college kid it could have been worse. She was stuck in Spain in April.

My co-worker had it run through his family. Enough to take him off our calls for a week (which is strange since we work from home)

My co-worker lost her friend (dental hygienist).

My next door neighbor’s daughter had minor symptoms, tested positive, and quarantined right after the election.

@SW-User I learned a lot talking to friends and family yesterday.

- My friend's partner got it... one of the younger family members went to a wedding in a different state and didn't tell anybody. My friend's partner spent 4 days in the hospital.

- My wife's step-mom told us that one of her friends lost a 19yo athletic son to COVID.

- My wife's step-mom works in a hospital so she had plenty to share. She still thinks severity is based on genetics... I still think viral-load plays into it.

I was surprised by the amount of Wisconsin friends and family who took the "no travel" part of thanksgiving seriously. Nobody had their usual gatherings for Thanksgiving and many said they won't be doing Christmas. That's a big change since they weren't taking COVID seriously for most of the summer.

Correction, I know some people who have it and/or are in quarantine right now because of exposure of someone who had it and didn't know.
I've known several people who've had it.
They all got through it just fine.

Quite a few
