During the Industrial Revolution, London became overcrowded with very large numbers or people suffering from dire poverty and consequently crimes were rife. The prisons were overcrowded so death sentences were increased.
By the 1770s there were 222 crimes in Britain which carried the death penalty, almost all of which were crimes against property. These included such offences as the stealing of goods worth over 5 shillings, the cutting down of a tree, or the theft of any animal, including wild ones.
Thieves of property worth less than 5 shillings and Irish political dissidents were sent to Australia with a minimum sentence of seven years hard labour in chains.

Intellectually disabled people were usually cared for by their families at home or in asylums with terrible conditions.

Misogyny at that time was the norm. Only a very few progressives were arguing for better conditions for women and their views were still considered highly controversial.
No one was sent abroad for hating women.
