Also, in Iceland they have a smartphone dating app that lets you “bump" phones, and emits a warning alarm if you are too closely related, to avoid accidental incest.

@bijouxbroussard Iceland has a population of 320,000 where most everyone is distantly related, inadvertently kissing cousins is a real risk. A smartphone app called Íslendinga-App is there to help Icelanders avoid accidental incest. The fact that Icelanders use a patronymic naming system, children do not adopt a family name for a surname, which also makes knowing people’s relatives difficult. In Iceland, they adopt the first name of their father followed by “dóttir”, which means “daughter” or “son” for their last name.
