Why does most chocolate ice cream taste nothing like chocolate?

No matter where you buy it, how much you pay. It’s a separate flavour.

Because the flavours in chocolate are fat soluble. Ice cream has some fat but mostly water so you don’t get the flavours delivered to your taste buds as effectively as you do when you eat chocolate.
