I just took some kids on their first ever trick or treat, my first time too. I realised that Halloween is a socialist celebration. Everyone contributes some candy right, but only those who want it go and collect some. Those who do end up with loads more than they contributed because many contribute but dont want any in return because they can buy candy any time they want to...and in the end everyone is happy.
