Possibly controversial but what is religion? I am struggling with the concept...

I was brought up in the Christian faith for my whole childhood and adolescence. I am struggling to know what I really believe. Not meant to be a horrid question but a sincere one.

The best remedy is to read and find out what you believe on your own. It's a large subject but I would read all kinds of books, just literally explore spirituality that sounds good to you and pick out just one or two books. I also explore opposing claims too like various agnostic or atheist reads just to see what I believe.

I also like parody religions that make sense like Discordianism, which uses chaos theory as its base belief but is also satire. Discordians may or may not be serious depending on who you talk to 馃ぃ

As an example from the various things I've read and this is only my personal conclusion...

I've largely come across the possibility that if God was real, for which I don't know, that all paths lead to God. I have the assumption that if such a force would be real, it wouldn't be real as to how we think it is either. I largely don't accept that there is such a thing as death or life as we know it and I largely don't accept that there's a black and white version of a morality system in which God says "you did this so hell or heaven for you!"

It's too simplistic because even good choices may lead to bad conclusions originally meant to be good so how do you define that as evil or morally righteous???? I mean, how would such a God define such concepts???

Like what would that make the people in third world countries who have to do wrong because they are in mass poverty or just grow up not knowing better? The people who say such black and white things, do you mean to tell me that, they'll get judged through actions in which they had little control over where they are born?

That's screwed up to me.

So it's possible that all roads just lead to the same conclusion or it could all be false, like with atheism. The reason I'm not fully atheist is because there is still questions to be raised on more abstract matter.

Like, there's some good science thought experiments using physics that objective reality (meaning you use reality to define real things or the real nature of things that which you can only see) to be false:
