Did you want to grow up to be just like your father?

In those days ie referring to the 50's, that was a common sentiment. Then they found out smoking kills.

My father was a solid, silent man. He offered advice only when asked. He worked hard to provide for 7 children. And rarely complained. He drank heavily on the weekends. And stopped only when he had a heart attack in his early 60's. This led to the end of his work life. He could fix most anything. And I miss him to this day. Mom too.
