Friend requests

I often wonder what prompts people to send a friend request. What's the point if they don't then interact? My about Me says to leave a message otherwise I will probably ignore the request. Clearly people don't read it. So, what is the expectation if they don't give some idea of why they want to be a friend &/or don't engage? I deliberately keep my friends list short. If there is only limited contact early, I delete.

They like your posts, if they follow you your posts will show more often on their feed. I don't see that as a problem. No one has to entertain me.

@Wiseacre some, definitely. I had a friend request from someone here. I asked her why she wanted to be friends & she admitted to wanting to increase her numbers. she blocked me to F off when I told she would stay in the followers list. I'm only inyterested in quality friends.

That´s EXACTLY the reason why I delete my friend requests permanently because I am so tired of friend requests when people actually have no interest in interaction.

@Loretta78 Thank you. I wonder about some peoples idea of friendship. On line it is just too superficial for me. Friendship to me is about knowing someone. Knowing they will be there for & with you long term. Knowing they are trustworthy & loyal. Knowing that it is a mutual, long term connection. That takes time to develop. You don't make good friends in one click.

I hope you can find someone you can trust enough to be the authentic you with.

I have had over the years 6 good online friends, and ALL of them disappeared step by step without saying just goodbye.

The last friend was a very special one. I have lost him three weeks ago - after 6 years of a very closed friendship and daily contact. During all those years we never had any argue or disagreement. We have shared so many things. And even he just disappeared - without saying just goodbye or ANYTHING.

So how can I trust still someone when even 6 years are not enough to know someone?

Well, I agree 100 % with your definition of friendship.

But because of my bad experiences I am not more here to find friends. I am just still here to write some stupid stuff from time to time when I have nothing better to do and to disappear again. 😐
