How long can seed packets last?

I recently found some lost seed packets that I forgot I set aside because I didn’t need them one year. It had to be 2017/2018. I went a little seed crazy because of a sale and didn’t need that many 😅 I forgot I had them until I started deep cleaning my whole house.

Maybe I can use them next year? I just don’t want to waste my soil, fertilizer, and time if they are useless.

***I read mixed messages on google, so I am curious about your personal experiences.
Doesn't hurt to go ahead and plant them...if they grow, yay!
But my experience with seeds older than a year or two is that most won't germinate.

I found a box of meadow flower seeds...2017. I threw them down this spring and they flowered.

Bound to be good if they had been stored in a dry place.
