@littlewonder1990: A maintenance man told me that a student at the university where we worked had a pet rattlesnake in his dorm room, the maintenance man knocked on the door and yelled "maintenance, here to change your a/c filter" and no one answered so he opened the door with his master key and walked to the a/c and changed the filter, turned around to leave and there laid a rattlesnake coiled up on the student's bed in pose where he could strike (apparently the loud knock on the metal door rattled this snake and he escaped from his glass aquarium cage)....the man froze with fear and got on his radio and called for help. About that time the student walks in the room (door was left open) and the man tells him to stop there's a snake and he says "Oh yeah that my snake, my R.A. said I could keep one, don't worry his fangs have been removed." ....needless to say he didn't get to keep it.

@cherokeepatti: lol I was hoping for a dramatic ending but sort of glad to have a comic one! that was scary to begin with!!

@littlewonder1990: If that happened to me I would have had to go home and change my britches! These students were always trying to outdo each other with the most exotic pet that they could sneak into their room. One year a group of boys kept a pot-bellied pig in their room all year long and they got by with it even though their R.A. was told...his reply "Oh my guys wouldn't do such a thing"...yeah right they were the most destructive hall out of everyone in the 12-story building. Was telling this story to a contract worker and he told me one year he encountered a monitor lizard in a small apartment, about 5 foot long.

@littlewonder1990: I'd like to know everything those kids have sneaked into their rooms in the history of that university...

@littlewonder1990: my uncle worked at night in food service, came in for the evening meal and cleaned up afterwards....he heard a student talking to another student saying he was gonna blow his room up after finals...this was back in the early 70's...when he was telling the story I laughed and said "uh-huh someone's gonna brag about doing that and then go do it."....my uncle was a worrier anyway and told the kid "hey don't do that, it'll bring the whole building down" (he was kind of like Gomer Pyle when he spoke out about something) Anyway he had a friend who was a campus cop and patrolled the dorm areas, he would stop by the kitchen and take a break about midnight and they'd drink coffee and talk. He told the cop what the kid said and the cop thanked him and said he'd check it out. About 2 weeks later he came by and thanked him for the tip, said they went around with a dog sniffing cars and the dog hit on this student's car and it had dynamite in the trunk, it was stolen from a gravel quarry in Oklahoma...apparently the kid was serious.

@cherokeepatti: that is a tale to tell! could have hurt a lot of people for sure.. i must confess that these are the tales i am hearing for the first time.. i just see this as a flawed attempt by kids to feel great about themselves..
