Then there are the long term consequences. 30-35 percent, depending on age, do not immediately recover. Stuff like chronic fatigue syndrome may never go away and is pretty nasty. Perhaps someone on here can explain what it's like.
Also just read that there are early indications that ten percent of infected men become sterile.
