5G fundamentally can't replace 4G because 5G signals have far, far less range. Like, by an unreal margin.
@BlueVeins why it has less rage

@mysteryespresso Higher frequency radiation, it doesn't go straight through most walls the way radio waves do.

This is one of the primary reasons why a microwave oven will not effect your next door neighbors reception even if shielding is an issue.

When a wavelength is really short (such as the frequencies at the higher end of the spectrum), the waveform is so tiny that it can become easily distorted. This is why really high frequencies can't travel as far as lower ones.

No, it's complimentary, not substitutive. There are places that still go with 3G and UMTS/GPRS, for saying

4g will remain for a while. Not just a tower range issue. There is just not anywhere near enough towers.

I'd keep my flip phone if it still worked :)
@Pretzel how would you use sw
Pretzel · 61-69, M
@mysteryespresso probably couldn't...so win win.

4G will remain in play.
