So sad when a famous 15th Century CATHEDRAL BURNS DOWN, what a load of history gone.

@sally1981 yes and a lot of know how too..they do not know how to rebuild them back either

@revenant The old skills are gone it is so sad.Sally

@revenant They do, have faith. I watched a very good programme on the restoration of ND.
revenant · F
@Moonpenny they do not even have the same trees nowadays I heard
Moonpenny · F
@revenant They source them at great cost. There were three types of limestone used in ND. They found all three in the catacombs and that's where the amount needed will be taken from.

[@Moonpenne] you cannot have the artisans they used to have then and there is a lot of sacred geometry knowledge involved which has been been lost or will be totally ignored. Very minute details which had loads of meanings.
revenant · F
@Moonpenny you cannot remake original stained windows and the original colours.
Moonpenny · F
@revenant That's not the case. There are still experts in this field. But you seem to know more about this than me.
I bid you farewell.
revenant · F
@Moonpenny thank you for answering
Moonpenny · F
@revenant They researched their knowledge about stained-glass windows at York Minster, in England and found a sympathetic way to reinforce them against further damage, as well as looking at pigmentation.
Be a little more optimistic!
Moonpenny · F
@revenant You're welcome.
revenant · F
@Moonpenny that is good to hear ! but still if it is not the original it has lost a lot of its "aura' to me
Moonpenny · F
@revenant Well, that's something you'll have to come to terms with, unfortunately.
