Do you care about your smartphone case being damaged?

No, that's the idea of it. I do get annoyed when my phone gets damaged and it's case is still in perfect order, though... *scowls at the crack on her phone screen* 😡

Yes. I don’t like it to look old. When it looks worn, I buy another one!

Yes. If it's damaged it won't properly protect the phone. Cosmetic issues are no big deal.
