Why do people ask questions on here they don't actually want an answer too?

If you just want people to agree with you put that in your question lol so I don't waste my time giving an opinion 🤔🤷🏽‍♀️

Good point ... I will try to make sure I ask for thoughts or opinions at the end of my questions.

@questionWeaver lol maybe I'm missing something but isn't that the point of asking a question lol. My brain hurts so bad right now. 🤔😅
@SunKiss3d some questions are seeking answer

Other questions may seek to provoke thought ... sorta like brainstorming

Some questions challenge... the idea there, to establish "position" ... for a follow-up question

Some questions do not seek answers at all ... rather they seek to identify opinions.

Some questions test hypothetical conditions

Some questions actually test the question itself

I often field test questions here ... then use the responses to compose a post I am doing elsewhere

Sometimes a question is testing the interest of others

Myself, I will weave 5-6 questions together seeking the thoughts of others, as I consider a topic.

And sometimes a question is posed as a challenge to "accepted group think"

@questionWeaver well I'll agree to disagree with you. Because that is not the definition of a question. A statement is made to make people think. The literal definition of a question:a sentence worded or expressed so as to elicit information.

That's the literal definition so sure if you want to repurpose the meaning that's okay but I go by the original definition. But again we can agree to disagree 😊😊
@SunKiss3d I am good with that

"Eliciting information" is to provoke thought, discussion, expression ... and opinion is information

Thus, I try to ask, at the end of my posts ... what information I am seeking to elicit ... or the which discussion process I suggest be followed.

Smiling... sometimes we do not have to ask ... sometimes we paint an irony ... some times comic ... with the implication for response ... without ever asking a literal question.

Those are just as effective

@questionWeaver thanks for being awesome and not nasty with me seriously I really mean that. 😊😊
@SunKiss3d you are welcome ... I saw the vitality in your question ... and believed it deserved commensurate thought and clarity.
