Can the #MeToo movement tear down all the MLK statues? He cheated on his wife Coretta over 40 times. Some of those were while engaged in orgies. Think maybe he abused his power over those women the way Weinstein did? Oh and by the way, he watched women get raped in his presence and did nothing to stop it or report it. Just thought I'd throw that in there. Let's judge statues by the content of their character shall we?

@irishmolly72 Excellent point you make here. I was going to bring up this little-known matter a while back but felt that the impact on the multitude amount of snowflakes would make them melt away. Yes, he had affairs left and right while claiming the moral high ground. The FBI even taped him and his fling of the day moaning and groaning. If it ever went public it would do some serious degradation upon his reputation and character. Looked for the link but apparently it's quite difficult to find.

What I can tell you is this, MLK was under a great deal of scrutiny because he accepted money from communists to help the cause of the SCLC.
Interesting that he got that help and nothing from the US in the struggle.
Also in the mix was the fact the J.Edgar Hoover was a obsessed with King. He would look for subversives everywhere. Thus the ongoing wiretapping..
Plus he was deeply closeted and cross dressed..
In 2020...not a problem...in the 50s and 60s it was a problem..
As for the statues...starting with those who owned and raped slaves first.

I think it's safe to say Snopes has lost a huge amount of credibility and respect in the public domain. Reputation is like a fine sheet of glass, once there's a crack in it - it will never be the same; there will always be that crack all can clearly see. The issue in the southern states was a bit more complex...the rationalizations for it were inexcusable..
The use of science of the time and the Bible to justify the practice
