When I used to go out for a day with one of my friends, I would drive and they would provide food or pay for drinks/snack at a pub. That was just a tacit agreement.
It depends how far you're going, anyway but I'd never ask for petrol money 🤷♀️

@Moonpenny I know ... I find it strange .. I don’t think 🤔 I have ever asked people to pay when I invite
Moonpenny · F
@Lostandfound46 Oh, if they invited you, that's a no-no! 🙁

It's normal for the guest to offer the driver, but not for the driver to ask unless the journey is very long and everyone understands the cost will be shared.
Lostandfound46 · F
@ArishMell I know right .. first I was asked to join the trip and all of sudden I was asked for money. It’s not a big deal I would happily paid if I was told earlier. It just made me question if that’s was normal 😀
Jammy · 51-55, M
I would not ask for money as a driver. I would not be offended if I was passenger if friend asked.
Lostandfound46 · F
@Jammy ummm I didn’t feel offended but I was a bit shock 😖😖😖
Jammy · 51-55, M
That is okay. @Lostandfound46

I can get why it would be a normal thing to ask, but when I’m driving I refuse any offer of them chipping in. If I’m driving more than likely I’m the one who set the wheels in motion for the road trip so I’d make sure I was squared away in every category concerning it. If I’m the passenger, I usually offer to cover their lunch whether the topic comes up or not. Covering gas has never come up though because getting a yummy meal you don’t have to fork over money for is so where it’s at.

Lostandfound46 · F

Eternity · 26-30, M

Lostandfound46 · F
@Eternity 🤔

SW-User

Lostandfound46 · F

SW-User
@Lostandfound46 I would not expect it
Lostandfound46 · F
@SW-User it’s like u were asked for dinner date and ask to split the bills 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Marshall · 36-40, M
It depends... How long was the trip?
Lostandfound46 · F
@Marshall a day trip
Marshall · 36-40, M
@Lostandfound46 I meant the distance, lol
Lostandfound46 · F
@Marshall 200 mile to be specific
ABCDEF7 · M
In such cases, it's better to make it clear in advance. That's what we do for long rides.
SweetMae · 70-79, F
I wouldn't ask but I do offer to help.
Gingerbreadspice · F
It should be.

SW-User
I wouldn't
Justenjoyit · 61-69, M
All depends on many factors
Justenjoyit · 61-69, M
@Lostandfound46 very true but me and my friends always ask or share.
Lostandfound46 · F
@Justenjoyit Hahhaha it’s the age 😴😴😴 I don’t want to go for a date and you ask me to share the bills 🥱
Justenjoyit · 61-69, M
@Lostandfound46 its ok I would let you pay the full amount 😉😀

SW-User
