Why is road called a highway, when is it built so close to the ground?

There is absolutely nothing that is HIGH about it

Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?

@JenKarl As far as I know it is only in America that they are called Parkway's the rest of the world call them roads or streets etc as for parking I put the car in the Garage

@Longleggedlady it’s an American word. We have many parks where people can drive. We park in out driveway because our other three cars are in our garage.
