In Ontario, Canada, you can be charged with assault if you throw a paperclip at someone

Totally the same as if you throw a brick with murder intent.

Oddly, you are correct. I am in Ontario.

@Lynn1976 then they complain courts are full to the brim

@revenant Police lay too many charges in Ontario. About 40 percent of all charges are withdrawn within six months and the conviction rate is about half for the rest. So 75 percent are dropped or not convicted.

@Lynn1976 many people cannot afford lawyers and it still goes in your criminal records🙊

@revenant I work with the system. What people don't understand is that there are two types of records: criminal convictions and non-conviction records.

@Lynn1976 it is still there and the system makes it so hard you cannot erase the history.

@revenant It depends what it is. Criminal convictions need the, what used to be referred to as, a pardon, now a record suspension. But for Non-Conviction" information, it has to be removed after five years, but a person needs to apply to the specific police service to get it removed sooner. There are conditions for that too.

@Lynn1976 People told you have to go to such incredible loops that they had to give up.
