Hmmm while the officer used excessive force , do you think any of that would have happened had the man not tried passing counterfeit bills ?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@TexChik So it's somehow normal/allowable to kill someone over a counterfeit bill?
TexChik · F
@Elessar nope , but if he hadn’t been engaging in criminal activity ... however that’s wasn’t a capital crime . Just keeping things in perspective .
@TexChik You are trying to justify a homicide.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@TexChik By the same logic, if I die in a car accident people would be pissed if someone said "he would be alive if he didn't drive", though.
TexChik · F
@Elessar Nope, there is always a chance of a fatal accident while driving. That chance is far greater than dying of Covid. The chance of the police randomly selecting you for interrogation and detaining you are very small indeed, but if you commit a felonious act...Its guaranteed that the perp will get police attention
@TexChik You are trying to justify a homicide again.
TexChik · F
@RedtheEmerald Nope , you libs are trying to portray a felon as angelic upstanding citizen while ignoring the murder of a white cop by a black man because it doesnt fit your race baiting narrative.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@TexChik
That chance is far greater than dying of Covid.
Not according to the data I saw, mortality for all causes in the hotspots have been 200% up to 500% higher this year compared to the average of 2015-19, considering also that incidents both on the road and in workplaces were at the bare minimum with the lockdown. Data coming from and validated both by at least two different and independent institutions as well.

I've also had someone in my family getting it "moderate" (i.e. a pneumonia lasting more than one month and requiring oxygen supplementation) so unfortunately I know what it's capable of.
but if you commit a felonious act...
I still don't get a connection; I mean, he should've been more likely to fined/charged (or however you handle such situations over there), not killed.
TexChik · F
@Elessar Not according to the data I saw. The virus is still 98.7 % survivable.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@TexChik Depends on the place / size of the outbreak. There are a lots of possible con-causes being investigated, populations that are more susceptible than others as well (paradoxically, even North Italians vs South Italians have completely different figures, and it's not that we don't mix). Also, the "survivability" are estimations, with a pretty broad confidence interval as well. 98.7% being the most optimistic as far as I can remember. And in any case, not telling you anything about the conditions of those who survive - some leave the hospital in a wheelchair, someone as young as 18 and obviously healthy needed a full lung transplant over here because his ones were screwed to the point (literal words of the doc) "they looked like made of dry wood".
@TexChik I am fully aware of his death. It was a sick thing that shouldn't have happened. Many people showed up to his funeral and many people have mourned for him. I am glad that so many people paid their respects to him. His death was not okay and they had no to reason to kill him. I am not alright with any person being assaulted much less killed. You don't seem to realize that I do not control the media. I cannot control what is and isn't popular. I can't control what millions of people on the internet are experiencing. What I can do is advocate for the cause.

The cause is stopping police brutality. It is for stopping police immunity. It is for stopping the needless killings on African Americans. I am fighting or equality. If you do not believe that this is a problemthen I will leave the names of a few African Americans who were murdered by police under no right cause.

I have no agenda or narrative. I have a need for equality. Do you not want that? Do you not want justice? Do you not want equality? Are you okay with needless killings? Please answer me honestly.

TexChik · F
@Elessar Im talking in the US...dont try to pad the covid numbers any more, even the media now sees is as a dead issue , opting to sensationalize and promote racial discours
Elessar · 26-30, M
@TexChik I've seen similar figures also in American epidemiological studies, with a higher CFR for people in intensive care over there compared to here. Raw data are there for everybody to access, I don't care about what the media say. Downplaying is just as dumb as sensationalism.
TexChik · F
@RedtheEmerald Justice is being served. 3 more officers have been charged. We will see what shakes out in the trial.
