How long does a really disturbing dream stick with you?

@LAlexV distractions, yes. music being the number one thing i can do right away, then i will go outside, close my eyes and face the sun, then find a laborious chore/project, then maybe a movie i can count on to make me laugh. i also replace the thought; like every time i think of the dream, i have to then purposefully replace the thought with a positive affirmation. something simple, like "today is a good day".
