Ever watch a cat needlessly torture a mouse for hours?

@Lonelyheart If, as Twain suggests our judgment is all that matters- then the cat is evil.

@Nika2002 I think that would be closer to personification of the cat. The cat doesn’t view it as wrong but we do so we associate the cat with wrong
@Lonelyheart your a smart pants Mr!

If so - holding the logic - it makes us the only truly good creature, as well.

Humans are not the only evil creatures. There are numerous studies showing animals do "evil" behavior (lie, steal, murder their own kind, etc), and if that's too difficult to look for then go on YouTube and look up "animals are jerks"
@JavaJim lol that's very bizare

I think it's a bit more complex than that. My question would be does an animal have a soul? Any animal, wild or domesticated?
Ladyred · 46-50, F
@Lonelyheart ahhh, so in your estimation soul or no soul an animal is justified in their behavior...Can an animal feel emotional pain, or memories? Or is it merely instinct of survival?
Lonelyheart · 26-30, M
@Ladyred from what I have seen animals have emotions and memories. They would have to if you were to train an animal. But of course it does depend on the animal. An animal with higher level thinking like apes can have emotions and memories while an ant or lower thinking animal would mostly act on instinct.

@Lonelyheart So the question is are human beings the only soul-bearing creature capable of evil? And you are speaking morals..if animals have no morals than they cannot ultimately be responsible for their actions. While human beings with the option of morals are intrinsically evil, or can choose to be. While an animal, without morals cannot choose?
I think some other animals are also conscious. But they just can't communicate! Some animals take revenge if you piss them off, isn't that considered evil?
Lonelyheart · 26-30, M
@RadiantRuby some animals will seek revenge to make sure you don’t piss them off again (defensive)
