@Zonuss Well bearing in mind there could be a million and one different permutations and reasons.. but say for instance, the man were hadn't seen you coming and you startled him and he thought he was being attacked? Or say he was going through an unusually stressful time and the behaviour were totally out of character, he'd never done anything like it before. It might make a difference too what he does afterwards, perhaps seeks counselling, meds etc.. In those circumstances I would forgive. I wouldn't assume.

@Zonuss Then that's an entirely different matter.. someone who is habitually violent or aggressive would not be someone who deserves chances.. They would have done this before.. and will do it again
