I just realized I haven't seen a civilian home with a landline in years. Anyone else?

Yes, I do - in my case with a broadband service as I also need a PC. And a portable 'phone.
Many do, judging by the address-lists of the clubs to which I belong being a pretty wide cross-section of people.
And why not? People choose the equipment they need or want for their own purposes.
