27 thousand dollars isn't unrrasonable for two 40hp electric motors right ??

High hp DC, with corrosion protection really runs the price up ... if it is not designed as a package ... with complete isolation it would never be reliable ... there is no way to make that inexpensively.
40 hp diesel is almost that much , when it is marine use.
