Why are people from Holland called Dutch and not Hollish?

If you think you've seen this question before, I posted it some time ago in one of my (now deleted) alt accounts.

Holland is actually only a part of the Netherlands, but often used for the whole country.
Not sure about your question though. All I know is that I'm Dutch and that I live in the Netherlands.

@Classified I haven't counted, but only a tiny fraction of the amount that exist. Lol :)

@NankerPhelge It'd be impossible to know the majority.

@Classified You are probably right. Lol :)
Because they always travel in pairs?
@NankerPhelge "Double Dutch"...

@Mandalorian I wouldn't have thought of that. Too vague.
@NankerPhelge I know right? It's more painful for me 😂

It's also called the Netherlands. One of the most confusing countries. Three unrelated terms to describe the same place

In Arabic it's all the same

We call it Hollanda (country)

Hollandi (male adjective)

Hollandia (female adjective)
