Thinking of getting gastric sleeve surgery, my mum had it done and she had lost tunes of weight, do you think it’s, a good idea?

I have tried excersing, and I have gone smaller, but my tummy hasn’t gone away?

It won’t get rid if your tummy but you will loose weight. The hardest part of the surgery is the special diet they put you on before the operation.

@justanothername that's not the hardest part :)

@Salix75 what was the hardest part for you?

@justanothername thankfully I had a pretty easy experience with no post-op issues. But adapting to the new diet- really a new lifestyle is a lot of work.
It impacts socially (hard to find suitable food in restaurants). The number of pills/supplements required daily. Needing to be mindful what and how one eats (have to separate drinks from food). Some folks find they can no longer tolerate certain foods. Dumping syndrome is very common.
I have to be very careful with anything sweet or simple carbs (which convert to sugars), as they can cause "reactive hypoglycemia"... essentially a dangerous drop in blood sugar cause the food hits the system faster.

For some people they can't deal with cutting out all carbonated drinks, caffeine and alcohol for life.

And in the end, surgery is just a tool.. still got to put in lots of work (good nutrition, exercise)
