People have rights to complain,to seek information and to appeal against wrongdoings. People see a protector in policemen. Though justice is getting delayed some times but justice is served. There are chosen (from common people) in the parliament.

@SW-User it's working for me. I have voted for national, state and municipal elections. I participated in movements. I got chance to talk about people through newspaper.

arent people still being locked up for supposedly leaking state secrets and labelled as "traitors" of the nation?

@SW-User it won't change anything if you let people to do injustice because of fear and silence or silence due to fear. There are people who are ready to take advantage of our weakness, fear and silence. You can't let decayed fruit to stay in the box of fresh fruits.
