I am not a racist in any way but...if you're not black, why are you trying to pretend that you are?

Unfortunately appropriating culture has now become urban culture.
So it's not something we can claim as black people.
The moment you as a black person try to reclaim it and call others out on it, it makes you the racist.
For years we were forced to adapt, appropriate, become what was considered civilised. Funny isn't it that the very thing we've been forced to disregard is now urban culture!

@Peppa See, I think that's bullshit. I cannot stand it when a white person does not use any sort of black slang whatsoever around their white friends, but the minute a black individual comes into the room they think they have to act black to be accepted.

@MeowsoliniReturns unfortunately that's where the privilege comes in. Im black British, Im often told I'm posh by people that don't hang around posh or well off people, other black people see that as a 'stripping of' my culture. But its who I am, probably even forced to not hinder my progression. When I enter white spaces I am questioned, where I live, where I went to school, what my career is, if any of those exceed or don't match up to a predetermined mindset I face more questions challenging me for either being an imposter or interrogation about how I was allowed to have the opportunity to do x y and z...

Im sure these questions are asked to white people but after the first round of questions it probably settles down. Whereas I'm constantly challenged, even more in a practical sense

@Peppa I am sorry to hear you go though that. It's ridiculous that you are expected to be a certain way when you are simply being yourself. I have had friends tell me that they have been chastised for not acting "black enough." That blew my mind.
