Eating disorders and double standards?

why is it common for people to be more sympathetic towards anorexic and bulimic people, but no one bats an eyes with emotional/stress eating due to past trauma? are we just so into fat shaming we can't be sympathetic? I've seen the my 600 pounds life and most people i feel bad for.

Eating disorders usually stem from trying to keep one’s weight down and overeating is a result of stress or voids.
