Can you hire a lawyer against another lawyer?

I know that they all live in a lawyers universe and it's all about 'connections' so I'm wondering if I hired another lawyer from a separate firm to get advice and maybe act against another firm because I do not trust them, can I trust the other lawyer or would I be putting them in a situation or maybe they all just support eachother the way alot of corrupt police support eachother? Unfortunately with lawyers you cant tell if they are one of the good ones or not until it's too late.
I cant find any info on this anywhere online

i think you can do that. the lawyer you should get must have his utmost loyalty to the courts first and then the client. they shouldnt be supporting each other esp if youre the client but they probably do that to come up with a compromise or something. there should be a code of ethical responsibility where you can check the duties and responsibilities of a lawyer.
@Dewms yeah there should be and I know they exist but many of them become corrupt over time, it's just how the job effects their pathology or something. Good lawyers dont get much respect from other lawyers and they make less money. The corrupt ones are the ones who make money
