Why do people think it's ridiculous to be cautious about meeting people from the internet?

I get that it's becoming a 'norm' now. But still...

It's not a ridiculous idea... a lot of people are still cautious about it but most of these cautious people prefers not to mingle online since they are aware of the dangers..

@Phire1 I also don't normally meet with people but, for some, I make exceptions. I guess, it's more about your comfort level, you have to reach a certain level of comfort in the idea of meeting them before you actually can. Unless you totally feel comfortable about it then noone can really force you to do it. I think that's the fair way to deal with it.
