I once had a theory on this but I can't remember it.

Something in the 1980's really screwed with fashion. Nothing was right about it. Big hair. Should pads. Heavy Makeup.

Girls would have been sexier in a burka.

@SW-User Some things about 80's fashions were positive. Young people seemed better dressed. It was common to see men with jackets, and ties. Now you see grown ass men dressing like teenagers.
