Mental illness and religion.

Is it time society viewed religious beliefs as a mental illness?
How would society benefit if it couldn't control billions of people with this nonsensical belief?

Clinically speaking, it does not fit the criteria which define what a mental illness is.

I would be content with religions being truly open to moral progress, instead of being static.

@Miram How are religions clinically defined?
No religion is static.

Defining religion isn't within the scope of psychiatry. I said being religious doesn't fit the criteria for a mental illness diagnosis.

No religion is static.

There are many religious laws related to religious morality that haven't changed since centuries which is my point.
