Is getting heart palpitations like this normal?

I have them after I drink coffee, usually not even much coffee at all- perhaps half a cup to one full cup. I also experience them after I eat a large meal. It feels like my heart hesitates to beat, pausing for a split-second and [i]then[/i] beats suddenly (like it wants to skip).
